There were 7,908 physio businesses in Australia in 2022 (IbisWorld). This number is expected to grow to nearly 10,000 by 2027. So the question is, how do you get more new patients every month to your Physiotherapy practice when the competition is heating up even more?
This is how you do it - you Own Your Area.
Hi my name is Chaz Arachchi and I'm the founder of PhysioMarketing.co
I don't know about you, but when I did my physio degree at the University of Queensland, I only had 1 lecture in private practice business in 4 years!
That’s right, just ONE!
In uni, physios aren't properly trained to run a profitable business, they are trained to treat, that's it.
So I left uni thinking word of mouth and referrals were pretty much the main ways to grow practices.
But I found out the hard way when I owned my practices.
Relying on other people to do your marketing is just not good enough if you want to get more new patients in a predictable and scalable way.
And here's the other thing...
With the aging population growing and more and more people turning to physios as first contact practitioners,
They will be looking for you online more than ever before.
So, the question is, will they ever find you?
When someone is looking online for a physio to go to, how do you make sure that you are the easy pick over others?
Because you know what...
Even if you are treating your patients better than anybody else out there,
If you're not more visible online than your competition to new patients who are actively looking for you,
It's very very difficult to grow.
Or you might even have to fold.
So here’s what you should be doing starting right now if you want to be or continue being the #1 practice in your area for new patients (even with more competition in the future):
More and more people are now getting information about their aches, pains, injuries, impairments, you name it, via the internet.
If your target market is becoming more digitally savvy, your marketing should also do that. So you should be online where your new patients are.
And once they find your website, it should look and feel like they just found their best friend. It should speak to their problems and pains and talk more about their needs rather than how awesome your services are.
This way, you are creating a lasting first impression that your practice is the place where their problems disappear, it should say that you the only choice for them in your local area.
It’s not a surprise if patients already know the “common” promises physios make. They might have even fallen for some of them but only to be disappointed later on.
So when they find you, their first question will be, “What makes you different?”
Your goal is not to tell them that you can do better, but to highlight how you are different from the rest.
So instead of making more promises, show them what makes you unique from the rest.
Then put more marketing messages out around that.
To truly be the #1 practice in your area for new patients, it is not enough just to have a beautiful, well-structured, and user-friendly website. The first important thing is how easily is your practice found by new patients, and then getting them to choose you over the others.
This is our approach to getting you to be the #1 practice in your area for new patients.
